Length 6 months or less Hiring Range $12.00 - $14.00 Hourly Special

references. About this Position The Peer Mentor position will
provide supervision to the Upward Bound participants during the
Summer Instructional Component. Main duties will include the
encouragement of participants, assist where needed inside the
classroom or office, and serve as positive mentor to the students.
Required Qualifications - Associate's Currently enrolled at an
institution of post-secondary education, -or- Completion of an
associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) -
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Current Oklahoma
Driver’s License. - Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Possess discipline-specific knowledge in either Math, Science,
English, or Latin. Possess the ability to work with and motivate
low-income/first generation students aged 13 to 19 years’ old.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively with
high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to
communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally
and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions
and respond to inquiries appropriately. Strong interpersonal skills
and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work
and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and
community partners. High degree of initiative to work independently
and also collaborate in a team environment. Demonstrated knowledge
of office technologies including but not limited to: office
computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook). Passion for assisting
customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with
positivity and professionalism. Demonstrated history of ethical and
professional behavior. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in
working with at-risk youth. Essential Job Functions: 1. Assist
participants in achieving success in high school and
post-secondary. Leading participants towards enrollment and
completion of a post-secondary degree. 2. Be a mentor and role
model for participants. 3. Possess discipline-specific knowledge in
subject matter. 4. Supervise or assist with student activities in
the classroom, lab, events and field trips. 5. Assist with other
duties as assigned by the director. 6. Maintain a positive learning
environment using guidelines set forth in the UB Staff and Student
Handbook. 7. Observe and comply with state law, Federal Upward
Bound regulations, OSU-OKC policy and procedures and guidelines set
forth in the UB Staff and Student Handbook. 8. Must be able to
perform duties listed above in person or through a virtual
classroom setting. 9. Completes all mandatory training. 10.
Performs other duties as assigned. The duties listed in this job

Conditions: • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some
nights and weekends. • Work will be performed in an office
environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person,
by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms. •
Occasional over-night in-state and out of state trips may be
required for cultural events. • Some events may require to be
outside for an extended amount of time during the summer. Physical
Requirements: • Duties require extended periods of sitting,
standing, talking, and listening. • Ability to participate in
student activities and trips off campus. • Requires lifting up to
25 pounds (if an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma
City requires this to be a two person • Ability to participate in
