It covers almost 94,000 acres.The fort was first built during the Indian Wars. It is designated as a National Historical landmark and serves as home of the United States Army Field Artillery School as well as the Marine Corps' site for Field Artillery MOS school, United States Army Air Defense Artillery School, the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade, and the 75th Field Artillery Brigade. Fort Sill is also one of the four locations for Army Basic Combat Training. The function of this position is to provide a full scope of diagnostic radiology services for the radiology services for the Department of Radiology, Reynolds Army Health Clinic (RAHC). Duties include the full range of Diagnostic Radiology, including but not limited to plain film radiology including fluoroscopy, Mammography, Neuroradiology, Ultrasonography, MRI, and CT, in accordance with established principles, practices and ethics of both the medical profession and the American College of Radiology.Provision of Direct Patient Care/Technical Requirements:The incumbent has patient responsibility within the Department when patients are presents for examination, including overall supervision of critically ill patients and provisions for critically ill patients and provision for emergency treatment and resuscitative measures, when necessary.Provide consultation, reporting the radiologic diagnostics examination, delivering interpretation of the study and the diagnoses of x-ray to the clinician. Re-evaluate incoming studies of patients being transferred from Regional Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to determine accuracy of diagnoses.Recommends and directs the care and treatment of the patient. Consults with the requesting physician before a procedure is done, deciding on procedure and ensuring the minimization of the invasion of the patient. Consult with the surgeon in planning the surgical plan approach.Obtains consultation, provides referral, both within the department and with other medical elements within RAHC, when required by the patients' condition with other staff radiologist clinicians, residents, fellows, technologists, and nurses as required.Accomplish special quality assurance studies in accordance with schedules established by the Chief, Department of Radiology. Provide advice, professional opinions and written technical studies and professional review upon request by the Chief, Department of Radiology in support of the various boards and committees within RAHC involved with evaluation of patient care and treatment. The incumbent may be required to attend Department or Clinic board committee meetings in accordance with schedules established by the Chief, of Radiology.As required and directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology will provide consultative services by telephone or site visit to Regional MTFs.Performs emergency coverage duty (call) on a rotating schedule basis in an amount proportionate to the incumbent's fractional share of the diagnostic radiologist staffing levels within the Department of Radiology, RAHC, and will include, but not be limited to, plain film radiologic examinations, Neuroradiology, Computerized Tomography, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging.Responsible for submitting Diagnostic Radiology reports. These reports of diagnostic interpretations shall be submitted as dictation (on government furnished equipment), as directed in Department SOP by the Chief, Department of Radiology.Provide technical direction for technicians and ancillary personnel in the Department in the performance of their duties. Investigates new procedures in the sub-specialty to improve or modify diagnostic capabilities.2. Academic Requirements: Provides training in the specialty of Diagnostic Radiology to other Department physicians and the medical students. Provide instruction in Radiology to these groups as needed.3. Serves as the supervisor for civilian employees assigned to Radiology. Orients new subordinates, determines training needs and assures necessary on and off the job training needs are filled. Prepares requests for filling vacancies and selects subordinates. Prepares performance appraisals. Prepares requests and recommendations for promotion, reassignment, outstanding performance, etc.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsUS Citizenship is requiredDoctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).A Current and valid Physician License (Board Certified/Board Eligible), Board Certification or a Radiologist is requiredA Basic Life Support Certification is required.
