Ambulatory Health Center or Hospital setting. The Hospital provides
services in the following departments: emergency, general medicine
and surgery, pediatrics and outpatient services. The hospital is

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630,

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree,
associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional
nursing educational program is required. This education must have
been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education,
Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs,
Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting
body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the
degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the
Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for
individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
AND
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have
passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition,
they must possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license
or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District
of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the

resume, along with the expiration date, OR submit a copy of their
Nursing license that includes the expiration date. Acceptable
verification of licensure includes a print out from a State Board
of Nursing website [or other applicable license verification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Your professional nursing experience and/or
education must be demonstrated in your resume and have equipped you
with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to
successfully perform the duties of the position.
GS-5: Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with no
experience;
OR Possess a diploma or associate degree, in professional nursing
AND one full year of professional nursing experience.
Professional nursing experiences for GS-5 level are nursing tasks
performed under close supervision of an RN. The duties include:
observing and assessing patients' clinical conditions with the
ability to identify and interpret serious situations, formulating a
nursing diagnosis appropriate to patients' needs, setting up and
operating general nursing equipment, administering medication, and
documenting nursing activities regarding direct patient care.
GS-7: Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing AND
eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.)

OR Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing AND at least one
full year of professional nursing experience;
OR Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing
AND two full years of professional nursing experience (equivalent
to the GS-5 grade level);
OR Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a
professional nursing educational program.
Professional nursing experiences for GS-7 level are nursing tasks
performed under general supervision, with another RN reviewing work
periodically. These duties include: contributing to the development
of a plan of care for assigned patients based on the nursing
process, providing nursing interventions based on established plan
of care and evaluating effectiveness, setting up and operating
specialized equipment, and demonstrates nursing leadership in
providing technical guidance and direction to other nursing
personnel (such as Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing
Assistants).
GS-9: Possess a master's degree in professional nursing;
OR At least one year of professional nursing experience (equivalent
to the GS-7 grade level or above) AND possession of a diploma,
associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a
professional nursing program.
Professional nursing experiences for GS-9 level are nursing tasks
performed independently. The duties include: providing nursing care
that requires the full range of professional nursing proficiency
from assessment of the needs of a wide variety of patient
illnesses, through developing a plan of care, administering
medication and operating special equipment, and initiating
appropriate measures in emergency situations. Experience also
includes demonstrating nursing leadership in providing technical
guidance and direction to other Registered Nurses and nursing
personnel.

Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in
Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be
fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS
approve a medical or religious exemption. If an exemption is

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per

annual leave.
This Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) allows acceptance of
