up to $50,000 in signing bonus for external applicants or internal
per diem to full time conversions! Position Summary: The Operating
Room Radiologic Technologist works under the direction and
supervision of a physician and the coordination with the Operating
Room Supervisor in performing the necessary duties that assists in
the coordination and completion of the daily patient caseload
involving the use of portable c?arm fluoroscopy in the Operating
Room (OR). Assists with the appropriate patient positioning on
operating room table and suggest appropriate immobilization devices
to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by
physician. During Operating Room procedures involving the use of
x?rays, is responsible for moving x?ray equipment into specified
position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors,
such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic
exposure techniques and protocols. Supervise and instruct students
in the operating room areas. Education, License & Cert: High School
diploma and graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology
program. AAS degree preferred. Certification required: ARRT.
Experience: Minimum of six months preferred as a Radiologic
Technologist in a Radiology Department of a general acute?care
hospital. Essential Functions: Performs diagnostic radiologic
procedures 1. Adjust radiographic equipment to correct settings for
each examination. 2. Accurate positioning of patients to fully
utilize photometer. 3. Performs appropriate QA on images generated
prior to submission to Radiologist. 4. The Operating Room
Technologist will be responsible of coordinating the use of c?arms
for all cases and monitoring their cleanliness. 5. Acts as
radiation protection advisor during Operating Room procedures by
practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive
devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable
exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
Checks that everyone is shielded and is wearing appropriate
radiation monitoring device (where applicable) before energizing
the ionizing radiation equipment. Proficient in?patient care
activities as related to radiology 1. Ability to relate to
patient’s information pertaining to ordered procedures. 2. Follow
protocols in dealing with patients with infectious diseases. 3.
Demonstrate competency in patient preparation including informed
consent, and injection of IV contrast. Knowledgeable in the correct
use of the Radiology Information System, scheduling, tracking,
completion, and down time procedures. Works as part of a team to
maintain high standards in radiology. 1. Attends in?service
programs as scheduled. 2. Ability to work cooperatively with other
technologists, nurses, and healthcare professionals. 3. Works to
keep morale high, does not complain to him/herself, but works at
finding a solution to a particular problem. 4. Seeks help and
answers to questions when they are not sure. 5. Performs
examinations in a confident, timely fashion. 6. Provides for
patient’s modesty, comfort, and privacy. 7. Demonstrates
willingness to accept non?routine work assignments, as appropriate.
Aseptic Technique and Understanding 1. The Operating Room
Radiologic Technologist must have prior knowledge and working
experience of aseptic techniques, manual decontamination process of
portable c?arm fluoroscopy equipment, recognize method of
decontamination based on detergents and disinfectants used in the
decontamination process, must be aware of the appropriate work
attire and personnel protective equipment. 2. Attention to detail
is very important in this area and the complete understanding by
the Operating Room Radiologic Technologist not to contaminate the
sterile field. 3. Incumbent work conditions include but not limited
to use of surgical scrubs, waterproof apron, boot covers, heavy
gloves, head gear, and facemask with splashguard and the use of a
cover gown over the scrubs when not in the area. 4. May require
changing into clean scrubs when required to move from a dirty to a
clean area. Other Duties: 1. Cleaning and restocking rooms daily.
2. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. traumas) 3.
Reports problems occurring with equipment to supervisor or QA
technologist. 4. Supervises, instructs, and evaluates radiology
students assigned to his/her area. 5. Must be able to transport
portable equipment to operating room suite, emergency room, nursing
units, and morgue. 6. Meets regularly at Radiology Department
meetings. 7. Must have ability to react quickly to emergency
situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady for
procedure, if unsafe situation occurs (such as fire), getting the
patient to safety and sounding alarm. 8. Must be able to work all
shifts, including weekends, on a scheduled basis. 9. Other duties
