Primary Purpose of Position:
- The key quality & technical leader of the process who will
plan, organize & direct all Quality activities within a process
area in a Large or Medium plant or a Small plant Quality team. Lead
& Direct the performance of the team to meet objectives (safety,
quality, cost, delivery). Partners with the manufacturing
counterpart to provide leadership & oversight of the entire
process.
- Ensure compliance to Goodyear quality standards, GQMTS &
customer specifications. Develop, implement, enforce & audit work
procedures which ensure quality products at an economical cost.
Leader of process area for product quality that meets or exceeds
customer requirements.
- Enforce Quality, legal compliance, technical standards of the
product process & material for the Business Center process area.
Responsible for organizational development planning of direct
reports. Expected to have business plans in place that provide
strategic development within the process & drive to a
high-performance culture.
- The key technical team member accountable to support the
business team implementation of continuous improvement, OEE & plant
optimization. Key participant in the continuous development of
Quality associates. Works closely with the Pillar Team Leader both
strategic & tactical.
Primary Responsibilities:
- TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Develop and advise on new technical
solutions to meet product requirements. Possess a thorough
understanding of available technology and standards. Use
appropriate level of technology for application. Work on teams to
develop new technology to meet requirements. Avoid inappropriate
levels of risk. Develop and advise others on processes within
functional group. Engage in external collaboration and cross
divisional processes. Internally and externally advise others on
evolving technologies. Insure transfer to projects and functions.
Develop technology products or processes and advise others, leading
to innovation.
- PROBLEM SOLVING: Anticipate problems and identify them
proactively. Develop and advise on new problem-solving strategies.
Use collaboration to solve problems and make decisions. Develop new
tools and methods to solve problems. Identify external resources of
value to Goodyear. Collect data and inputs to make decisions.
Consult with resources. Make decisions based on facts. Consider
alternatives and rule out unlikely outcomes. Advise others on novel
processes. Identify high impact projects and implement solutions.
Develop innovative solutions to large complex technical problems.
Develop and advise on new data analysis techniques
cross-functionally.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Use known, and develop new, tools and
standards for project execution. Execute, develop, and advise
necessary steps and activities for project execution. Deliver to
project objectives. Provide expertise and advice that adds value to
project planning. Use project risk management process to manage
risks. Develop and create approaches to mitigate risk. Advise on
lessons learned. Develop/advise/use creative approaches to execute
projects. Execute project closeout phase while developing the
process. Develop new methods for, and advise others on, project
conflict resolutions. Anticipate conflicts and develop contingency
plans.
- ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEAM AND BUSINESS CONDUCT:
Develop self-leadership and technical competencies to prepare for
next level roles in the organization. Serve as a technical mentor
to help develop organization technical competencies. Expected to
develop self and others, and to model high ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree required
- Experience or certifications in the application of Quality
control systems, problem solving and project management tools
preferred
- Bachelors Degree (STEM) with 5 or more years-experience;
Non-STEM degree with 7 or more years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to teach and apply systematic
problem-solving tools and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in understanding and
troubleshooting complex equipment and process problems
- Demonstrated ability to teach and apply new tools and
techniques to improve existing processes
- Project leadership/management experience, PMP preferred
- Energize the team and maintain a positive attitude with peers.
Provide constructive feedback. Plan and lead meetings.
- Give clear and concise technical guidance.
Manage/deflect/diffuse conflict. Provide technical direction and
logical conclusion within function. Actively solicit opportunities
for leadership.
- Cooperate with other teams to meet objectives. Influence
others. Drive positive change. Incorporate lessons learned into
effective strategies. Confront and address risk for self/others.
