Job Description:
Position SummaryPayroll specialists oversee all aspects of
timesheet and payroll processing to ensure payroll processing
remains compliant, accurate and on-time. The following are major
duties and are not intended to be all inclusive or
restrictive.Essential Functions of the PositionDocuments and
maintains all payroll records.Conducts semi-annual audits of all
payroll records.Detects and processes issues related to uncollected
payroll.Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or
concerns.Prepares and submit paper payroll checks for employees who
do not have direct deposit.Reconciles general ledger regarding
payroll transactions.Assists in preparing periodic reports of
earnings, taxes and deductions.Ensures that payroll-related
transactions are processed in compliance with policies and
procedures.Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the
payroll administration practices.Tracks all deductions,
garnishments, and ensures all payments are made and deducted in
accordance with the Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.Performs
additional relevant duties as assigned.Supervisory
ResponsibilitiesNo direct supervisory responsibilities.Work
EnvironmentIndoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental
conditions possible.Noise level can range from minimal to
intense.Minimum QualificationsMust have a minimum of a High School
Diploma/GED.Must possess 2- 3 years of payroll and/or accounting
experience, or accepted combination of higher education and work
experience.Must have demonstrated efficiency with process driven
responsibilities.Must possess strong data entry skills.Must have
strong oral and written communication skills.Must possess the
ability to communicate professionally with a variety of
personalities and skill levels.Must be able to analyze, solve and
make decisions when issues are encountered.Must be able to
recognize when documentation should be created or requested.Must be
able to multi-task and prioritize job responsibilities.Must be a
quick learner with ability apply the knowledge of new systems,
processes, and software.Preferred
QualificationsVocational/Technical degree in business/accounting
related processes2 - 3 years of experience related to processing
complex payroll.Superior knowledge of Excel.Working knowledge of
Deltek.Working knowledge of ADP.Working knowledge of
QuickBooks.Security RequirementsMust be a US Citizen.
