Salary Range: $175,000 to $243,000 / Per Year Open Period: 12/29/2020 to 9/30/2021 Summary: Appointment may be Permanent, Temporary, Excepted Time-Limited, or Term with tour of duty of Full-Time, Part-Time or Intermittent. The Agency has the option of extending Time-Limited and Term appointments for up to a maximum of four years. Temporary positions not to exceed 12 months or less are subject to termination at any time. The Agency has the option of extending Temporary position appointments for up to a maximum of two years. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. This position has a positive education requirement, therefore, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts (official/unofficial), OR list your education history including the type of degree(s) and major of study, and completion or anticipated completion (month and year) on your resume. Official transcripts are required after tentative selection and prior to issuing an official job offer. Residency Waiting Period: The Hiring Manager/Selecting Official may elect to utilize an available flexibility wherein applicants who are expected to complete residency within 9 months of applying, may be deemed tentatively qualified. The eligibility date is established based on the date of application and not the closing date of the announcement or any cut-off date used for certificates of eligible candidates. Applicants who have not completed their residency program requirements (but who are within the established timeframe for qualifying) must submit documentation from an appropriate official affiliated with the professional program that attests to the applicable timeframe for completion of the professional program. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. Your degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. AND Physician License: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., family medicine, internal medicine, or pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate equivalent training, experience or equivalent combination of training and experience for the grade level(s) you are applying to: NOTE: Candidates can apply within nine (9) months of meeting the residency program requirements. However, evidence of meeting the basic requirements and minimum qualifications must be provided and verified prior to entrance on duty. For GS-13: Applicants must have 3 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. For GS-14: Applicants must have 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
