• Plan and organize recreational activities.
• Coach all athletic teams.
• Organize and oversee all competitions and tournaments.
• Show detainees the proper way to safely use recreational equipment.
• Inspect recreation area for cleanliness and safety.
• Provide weekly safety training to recreation orderlies and clerks.
• Check all detainees in and out of the gym.
• Maintain recreation department records.

This position requires only a high school diploma. However, a degree in Physical Education, Recreational Therapy, or any field related to that is highly desirable. Experience working with prisoner populations or in a physical education program is also an asset..Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma required. Additional education in Physical Education, recreational therapy, or related field highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with an inmate population or in a physical education program is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
